MapJour

Privacy Policy

Effective August 4, 2026

MapJour is designed to keep your travel journal private. We do not operate an account system or backend for MapJour, and we do not collect your journal content, precise location, photos, audio, contacts, identifiers, or usage analytics.

Information stored on your device

Your visits, dates, place details, coordinates, and journal text are stored in MapJour’s private database on your device. Voice recordings and imported audio are stored in MapJour’s private app storage. MapJour saves references to photos you select from your system photo library; it does not upload or copy those photos to a MapJour server.

Location and place search

MapJour requests location access only when you choose a feature that needs it, such as using your current location. Place searches and coordinate-to-place lookups are processed by your device’s platform location and geocoding services. MapJour does not receive this information on a developer-operated server.

Photos and microphone

Photo access is used only to let you select photos for journal entries. Microphone access is used only when you choose to record a voice memo. You can revoke these permissions at any time in system Settings.

Sharing and exports

When you export a spreadsheet, PDF, audio file, or other content, MapJour sends it only to the destination you choose through the system share interface. You are responsible for the privacy practices of any destination or service you select.

Third parties, advertising, and tracking

MapJour does not contain advertising or cross-app tracking and does not sell personal information. MapJour does not include developer-operated analytics.

Retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete individual entries, use “Delete all local data,” or uninstall MapJour. Deleting a visit removes its MapJour-managed audio but does not delete original photos from your photo library. Exported files remain wherever you chose to save or share them.

Children

MapJour is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If MapJour’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes are released. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
